Seems we need to go one step deeper... Would you mind generating a GPS log and send it to me? Thanks!
- Start Harry's LapTimer and find the trace settings: LapTimer ‣ Settings ‣ Expert Settings ‣ Tracing (Developer only).
- In the Tracing section - and starting with All - you find so called logging classes. Please make sure GPS Sensors is turned on, and all other classes are turned off.
- To start logging, return to the Tracing section header and select Logfile from the Type row. Switch to the Sensor View and make sure your Qstarz delivers 10 Hz. Wait some seconds so LapTimer can collect enough information.
- Return to Expert settings and select the row Send Logfile (if available) - and LapTimer will bring up a note including the log file. In case you are not prompted with this prepared email, you need to setup mail operation on your device first...
- Send the mail to harry@gps-laptimer.de

Android 4.3 if i use a bluetooth gps mock provider and connect it to the qstarz 818xt and then record a short vid as above the lap list then shows external@10hz and confirmation by exporting to .csv and i can see a row for every 0.1 in the time. Maybe this is a workaround for at least s3 users using android 4.3. I really hope kit kat fixes these issues since they dont seem to occur on s3 running 4.1.2

I'm having the same issue as Boom Spoon. I have a Galaxy S3 running 4.4.2 and am getting ~4Hz (says 5 Hz like screenshot above) from the Qstarz 818XT when directly connected through the app however when I use a BT mock provider I get the full 10 Hz.
Is there anything wrong with me using the mock provider? Is there anything I can do to get the full 10 HZ without using it?

Please either use the helper app and do not connect LapTimer directly (this will let LapTimer access Android's location service - which receives mocked data), or kill the helper app and connect the qstarz directly. Doing both will likely screw up things.

Right, the issue is when I connect the Qstarz directly to HLT it only receives 4-5 Hz. I'd rather not use the helper app because it's just one more thing to do/forget but I still would like 10 Hz. I was wondering if there was an solution for this problem of only getting 4-5 Hz?

Have you killed the helper app? It may disturb LapTimer reading data from the GPS.

Yes, running HLT by itself directly connected to Qstarz still only outputs 4-5Hz. It fact I didn't have the helper app installed when I noticed this issue. I just searched and found this thread saying that using a mock BT app would solve the issue which it did but I still would not like to use it if I don't have to.

Yes, you may send a log file. Please check viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1933 for a how-to. The only trace class you need (or should) turn on is "GPS Sensors".
