moving data to different phone (android)

Post by arsprod »

I've been using laptimer petrolhead on an old android phone and it just doesn't have enough guts. Is there a way to transfer all data and video from one phone to another?

Export all your lap and vehicle data to .hlptrl first. You find the export function e.g. in the top of Lap List. Make sure you select "All" as the scope and .hlptrl as the format. Send the mail generated to an email account readable on your new phone. Press the attachment and select LapTimer to open it. NB: implementations to associate/select/open attachments are not consistent. The best chance is to have LapTimer closed (killed) before you start that operation. In case it doesn't work with the standard mailer, try a different one or Dropbox.

Video is not included in .hlptrl files, you need to transfer it using standard file management (SD card / SD card).

Yeah, figured out from post ios to android. One issue, I also want to move stuff to android tablet (nexus 7) to make editing easier. However, the nexus doesn't use the same directory name (/sd0/my movies) so the video won't connect. Any way to change the association?

LapTimer's associations are the relative path / filename only. So in case you move footage to the other device's Movie folder, LapTimer will find the video automatically.

Finds the video just fine but when I go to overlay it crashes the program.

Please re-check if this still happens for 18.0.6 In case it does, please drop me a note using LapTimer's contact button and add the exact time the crash happened. I can use this data to identify the crash log that arrives on the server...

I constantly fix intermittent crashes arriving on the server. Hope that ends in the next days :-)

Which status message is shown in the top of the overlay configuration dialog?
