Video overlay delay

Hi,

I currently use LapTimer pro with Dual XGPS150. It is very good for track day. But there are some problems for video.

The lateral acceleration and speed are delay about 1~2 seconds in the video. My overlay video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHogXH1xuqs (updated). In the expert setting, there are "Sensor Delays" and "Overlay Synchronization". I change the value from 1.5 to 0 for Dual XGPS150 and the value from 0.5 to 0 for Internal Acceleration and the value from 0.5 to 0 for Video. Then I run a test for video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxWx93QA0zM. It likes good for lateral acceleration and speed.

Is the setting OK? Does it effect the lap time?

Hi,

Delay settings do not influence accuracy. My recommendation is to not change any from the delay settings for the sensors usually. They define how the three sensor sources (GPS, accelerometer, OBD) relate to each other in terms of timing / lag. You will probably need to change the Video delay however as this defines how the data recording stream is related to the video stream. This later delay is applied during Video Overlaying, all other delays are applied while recording and will have no effect for existing laps.

Thanks!! Maybe I misunderstood what the Overlay Synchronization means. Are the Video delay and the Overlay Synchronization for video the same meaning?

Even in cases LapTimer sets the sync point itself (i.e. when recording is done including video recording), a certain correction needs to be applied. The value used is the Video Delay. Overlay Synchronization is used when aligning a lap and a video from scratch, i.e. when no hint is available how video and lap do relate.

I don't find the Video Delay in expert settings. My Harry's LapTimer is v16.6.1 Professional. Where is the setting for the Video Delay?

LapTimer -> Settings -> Expert Settings -> Overlay Synchronization -> Video
Sorry, but I thought you were talking about LapTimer's Overlay Synchronization dialog...
So to answer your last question Overlay Synchronization IS the Video Delay.

Please check you have defined gear ratios for your car correctly. In general, gear changes are not a good synchronization indicator, rapid rpm changes and audio are preferable. Changing sensor delays has no immediate effect, it is applied the next time you record. Existing recordings are not affected. Please search the forum for "sensor delay", there are numerous discussions already. It is a bit complicated when you start changing sensor timing relative to each other.

Overlay synchronization has an effect for the next overlay, data is unchanged, but the alignment of video and data in general is adjusted.

this summer i did a lot of tests.
i tryed to set sensor\overlay delays all to 0 and made new videos.
Unfortunaly sound and video are before about 1sec of the data log.

me and my friends are becoming crazy with this problem..please help me and everybody to find a solution.

a question:when will be able the zoom in the recording video?

thank you
