Getting Started.
Getting Started.
It will be a while before I am on a track so I have set up a route to work to learn all about HLT in the meantime. So, it's called "To Work" and I have set a start and stop trigger. My question is when I start HLT and pass the start trigger will it only start timing if I have selected "To Work" or will it start timing regardless evey time that start trigger is passed? If so, then will I end up with an "Unspecified" Lap and can I then associate the lap with the appropriate track set?
Finally, (for now) does HLT continue to time if sent to the background?

Re: Getting Started.
Hi,
Once LapTimer detects a trigger, it will switch to the trigger's POI Group / Track automatically. So please set the POI Group for both your Go and Stop trigger to your track "To Work". LapTimer is not designed to work in background, it requires you to run it in foreground while active.

Re: Getting Started.
Thank you, even better than I thought.
Re: Getting Started.
I've now got some laps (To Work) recorded and can now compare current with best but I am a bit confuse by the data I saw this morning. The trip is around 30 minutes, the reference lap was 34 minutes and I was using the standard timer. In the top half is display "Lap" and "Both". In the bottom half "Gap v Best Lap" with the ref. lap time in brackets. The final time for this morning was 29:21 but displayed in the bottom half was over 70 minutes. I was expecting it do display around -4 to 5 minutes. Confused.
Re: Getting Started.
Hi,
looks like an overrun... For reference lap comparison it is important you drive the same way - not a different route. Has that been the case? I have 2 more reports reference comparison does not work correctly from time to time, will check that again.

Re: Getting Started.
No it was the same route, using start and stop triggers. I'll do it again tomorrow.
I assume we can do this without triggers and simply start and stop timing manually and the reference comparision should still work, and can still add the "lap" to the route?

Re: Getting Started.
You can start LapTimer manually if you want, yes. As the current track (i.e. the group where your recording is going to) is usually set from the trigger detected, you need to take care to select the track manually in this scenario too. Otherwise lap to lap comparison will not work. Yo can select the current track using the small wrench button in any of LapTimer's timer views.

Re: Getting Started.
That's what I thought, thanks. It will be Monday before I can test again, forgot this was Friday.
Re: Getting Started.
Tested again this morning. When I passed the start trigger the "gap" in the bottom half-showed around -34 minutes and started going down. Around 10 minutes into the journey it was showing approx -1.5 minutes going quickly to a positive figure and continued to rise until the stop trigger was passed when it was around 74. At this point all numbers were flashing on an off and coloured red. Then the flashing stopped, the numbers turned white and the gap displayed was +16.34 seconds which not doubt was correct against the ref lap. So still confused.
Looking at the laps recorded there is one lap for "Work to Home" and that is 34:59. This is a clue I think.

Re: Getting Started.
Solved. It was the stop trigger for the "Work to Home" route that was causing the issue. Removed that and everything functioned as expected.
