[SOLVED] exporting raw video

Harry. First, I love the app. It is a great way for us track guys that are on a budget to get an idea of our times without spending the big bucks.

Now for my situation. I used my iphone at the track this weekend. It worked great for the most part, however there are a few run sessions that the laps did not get broken out. Rather than having 10 2 minute lap videos it has a single 20 minute video. Not a big deal, however, due to the size of the video and the other videos that were taken for other laps I don't have enough room on my phone to move the video to my library (even ran out of memory during my last session).

And finally here is the question. Is there a way to transfer the raw video off of my phone either to my ipad or computer? It would be great to have the overlay also but that is not necessary. I would just like to have the video as it was one of my better sessions. So far the only way I can figure out to get the video from the raw video is to overlay it (which I don't have enough memory to do) or to move it to my library (which I also don't have enough memory to do). I am hoping that there is a simple way to do this and as usual I am just technologically impaired. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

My suggestion is to first generate the overlaid videos you want. Once you have move the big raw video to your PC, it will be difficult to get overlays. To generate overlaid vids with limited space I suggest to do the following:

Assumption: you have music on your iPhone and synchronize with iTunes
  • Connect your iPhone to iTunes, deselect 'Music' and sync -> this will remove all music temporarily
  • Generate the overlay you need, sync to remove it from the iPhone (to your PC)
  • Repeat until you have all overlays you want
  • Select Music in iTunes again and sync to get the music back
To move the raw video to your PC, use iExplorer (free downloads available here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=679)
  • Connect your iPhone to your PC and start iExplorer
  • Search for the LapTimer folder, navigate to Documents
  • Move the raw video to your PC (these videos are in the Documents folder an have an .mov ending)
Hope that helps,

Harry

Harry:

I kind of already did your first suggestions. I removed all music and everything else I could think of before I went to the track. Due to the amount of data / video your app took for me my phone filled up. To overlay and move to my ipad I had to overlay, move and delete each one at a time. I still don't have enough room for a couple of the bigger ones. That is why I asked the question. I will try your second suggestion and let you know if it works. Thanks for your quick response.
