Is it necessary to buy the Axxera branded 150E for use in the U.K.? I ask because the Dual branded 150A is available cheaper at Amazon.
Thanks in advance.

I doubt there is a problem using the Dual branded GPS in the U.K. My understanding is Dual branded devices should not be distributed in Europe any more and are replaced by the Axxera branded ones. Maybe someone has a stock here... Why not check with Dual, I think that's the best?

Thanks for the reply. I think it's likely that they will advise only using the approved one for Europe. I'm hoping perhaps another user in Europe can confirm that it's no problem using it here.

I have a Dual XGPS 150 in the UK and works ok. Can't remember who I bought it off but it was shipped from Germany.
If they cannot ship to Europe under the Dual brand it's maybe because someone else already owns that brand name. I know Dual as an Audio brand, although don't know if they are still in existance! I very much doubt there is any hardware difference between a Euopean and non european models.
But as Harry says, check with Dual.

I just got the Axxera XGPS150E European version from a UK site. The difference is the E version complies with European regulations to do with GPS's where the US version did not. I can confirm the new European version from Axxera/Dual works fine with iPhone 4 and Laptimer...
By the way there seemed to be a massive backlog of orders for the new one from manufacturers (so UK dealer said) - i ordered it two months ago and only got it today

The Dual branded device is only around £60 from ebay and is immediately available. I wonder what these European regulations are that are ensuring the device costs around £40 more and more importantly, what does it matter.

It's probably the CE mark showing EU compliance.
I think electrical goods have to have the CE mark for sale in the EU. hows that goods have met with relevant regulations and won't fry the user!
I'll check to see if my Dual is CE marked.
