Data Overlay not showing in Exported Video

Hi,

I have read the previous posts / threads with regard to ‘No data overlay in exported video, however my problem is a little different to those previously described.

For reference I am using v25.01 (current), iPhone 11 w/ios26 & GoPro Hero 7.

I use LapTimer to record the video in SD on the iPhone. I use the GoPro video to be then overlayed for the respective lap I.e I trim it 2mins & 10secs.

When I Export it the process completes but the video, both in in the LapTimer doesn’t appear & in Photos it won’t play.

As suggested I should reboot the iPhone, which then makes both the video visible and playable in LapTimer & in Photos, however there is no data overlay in either video.

If I then Revert back to the Raw video, it actually displays and plays the overlaid GoPro footage, but this time with the data overlay which I can then watch via LapTimer. When I then Export this video it saves to Photos however no data overlay is showing.

I have obviously tried turning the iPhone off and then on again, but to no avail.

If you could please advise what other steps I could take to rectify this problem that would be much appreciated.

For the record all other times I have previously used an iPhone to record the video with the data overlaid and then imported the GoPro footage and Exported it to Photos it has always worked just the way it is supposed to, which was predominamtly from 2017 to 2022.

Many thanks,

Matthew

Please make sure the GoPro video you try to overlay uses a standard encoding and format. HEROs come with so many bells and whistles, it is easy to select something your iPhone can display, but will fail to generate a new video based on the non-standard input. For existing GoPro video, you may want to try a conversion using ffmpeg / Handbrake. Please make sure the existing video is really decoded, converted and encoded again. Indicator: in case the conversion using Handbrake is fast, it just changes some flags but didn't do the full cycle.
