Virtual Overhead Lap Display

Post by Dubbedown »

Would it be possible to incorporate a virtual overhead lap display, similar to F1 style broadcasts where they compare 2 different drivers' qualifying results? I've actually seen this feature in other data acquisition solutions where it basically overlays your lap time via Google Maps. The top half is the "moving" map, bottom half data such as speed, acceleration, lateral G, engine RPM, brake & throttle inputs, etc. I find this to be a fantastic feature and takes away the need to overlay actual cockpit video. I can provide a link of exactly what I am referring to but have refrained from now out of respect to Harrys :)

In which situation would one use that? In video overlays or in real time? I assume the former because a big number will be the max drivers will usually be able to read while driving.

Definitely not real time. It would be used as part of data analysis. It's nice to be able to review different driving lines between laps, look at vmax/vmin, g forces, when brakes were applied, etc.
