GoPro 10 supported?

Post by Mike S2k »

After a 7 year break I’m hoping to use lap timer again. I have a GoPro 10, is this supported as it’s not on the list?
Thanks

Hello,

Please operate the HERO 10 manually. You can add footage recorded to LapTimer after the fact, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXjVb8nWCXI Do not use one of the extreme video configurations, max is 60 Hz and UHD 4K.

With the new GoPro 11 supporting 10 bit color and much higher bitrate video and resolution, is this something that can be enabled for laptimer overlay?

iOS itself supports editing 10 bit color HEVC video at >4K resolutions at high bitrates and stereo audio (all HLT overlay videos with stereo audio tracks have mono audio only).

My new workflow is exporting HLT data and Gopro videos to desktop computer and overlay on PC. It would be much more efficient to overlay on the iphone.

Hello,

I can't answer this. For iOS, LapTimer doesn't fiddle with video formats, but expect iOS to do proper decoding / encoding. So it simply needs to be tested.

Ok, I have a new Hero 11 Black.

I will test overlay after my track day this weekend and see what laptimer on iOS 16 can do with 10 bit video input. I am hoping 10 bit video input = 10 bit video export output.

I tried a few combinations with video overlay for iOS 16 with GoPro 10 bit color video.

With 5.3k 10 bit color video with stereo sound, Laptimer will overlay on the video but the placement of upper left and right overlays are in the middle of the screen rather than at the top. Resulting exported video is 4K 8 bit color video with mono sound.

With 4K 10 bit color video with stereo sound, Laptimer will overlay the video. The result is 4K 8 bit color video with mono sound.

O.k, thanks for testing. The wrong placement of gauges for the 8K is as expected, LapTimer requires 720p HD, 1080p FullHD or 4K UHD resolutions.

Is there anything that can be done with the audio? Videos with 2 audio tracks (stereo) always end up with 1 audio track (mono).

Normal video editing on iPhone always retain the original audio. Laptimer alters the audio track.

I’ll put it on the feature request list.

Hi I just discovered that GoPro released API for their cameras for the third party developers. Have you tried it? Maybe it will help you with implementing support for the new models
