Out and Back - copy / duplicate track?

Post by thinkstorm »

I have a few tracks where I drive out (up a hill) and back (down the same hill). I currently only have tracks for one direction (up). Is there a way to copy that track and then just change Go->Stop, Stop->Go, and all directions of all splits etc. by 180 degrees?

Not within the app. Butt you can use the Certify function to create a copy:
  • select the track set / POIs from Lap List
  • press Certify - which is used to submit a track for inclusion in LapTimer's tracks database
  • instead of sending the mail generated to us, enter your own email address
  • open .HPOIL file once it arrives; use a plan text editor
  • change directions and track name (up to 15 characters)
  • send the mail to an account you can open on your smartphone
  • touch the edited .HPOIL attachment and select LapTimer to open it
  • this will add the edited / reverse track
Please keep in mind there is a limit of 15 tracks for LapTimer currently.

actually, it wasn't. the attached file is a .hpoiz and the text editor only shows gibberish.

LapTimer uses a super fast but old fashioned database system. It dates back to LapTimer’s first implementation on PalmOS. This limit will go away in the future, but it is a “deep” change.

Rename .hpoiz to .hpoil.gz Decompress it to .hpoil afterwards (gunzip or other program).

Is there a way to do this on a track that I did not create?

I have the same situation, except I would like to reverse a track that was created by another user. I tried changing one of the POIs on the track, but I am prompted with a message that says I am changing a certified track and I don't want to mess with the original.

Once you change a certified track, it is becoming a local User Track Set. You can do this if you want. NB: online function for this track set will be turned off (e.g. Hall of Fame). In case you want us to update the certified track set, please apply the changes and send the User Track set for certification. Please add a not on what you have changed so we can understand whether changes should go into an update or into a new certified track set.
