Chinese WLAN problems

Not problems with wi-fi in China, I should point out...
My first dip of a toe in the water of OBD readers is with a Chinese Kiwi copy, and I'm hoping someone may be able to offer an answer to my problem.
I've set up the wi-fi, that's all connected and stable. When I try to actually use it, Rev2Lite never seems to make a final connection (The three green dots in the top left keep going on and off) and it's seen as a Kiwi sensor within Lap Timer, but only at between 0.0Hz or upto 0.3Hz.
Have tried resetting everything, iPhone 3GS in flight mode with wi-fi on, engine on, engine off but ignition on... There's similar cases on the PLX forum, but no definitive answer.
Does anyone have any ideas? It's on a 2003 BMW E46 3-Series.
