Do I need a functional telephone connection to make the system work? In other words can I just use a phone that doesn't have a telephone # and is dedicated to only laptimer use?
So the question is whether you can use a phone without mobile service / Internet access? The answer is Yes provided you load your track set before arriving at the track. Loading a track set is the only mandatory operation requiring Internet access. It downloads the track set - which requires this access. So load your track set at home, send LapTimer to background to make sure everything is stored, and enjoy driving without Internet on site later.
