I am starting to learn to skate and one of the tests I'll be asked to do is a "27 in 5" skills test, where I have to skate 27 laps in 5 minutes. Would this app be good for that? The rinks I skate are indoors. If my phone is a limitation would an external GPS receiver help?

While LapTimer will probably work for any type of track and sports type, indoor use is a killer. Even in case you get a position, it will not be accurate enough.
