Is it possible to use LapTimer while iphone screen is off?

I was wondering if it is possible to use the LapTimer while the iphone screen is turned off. I am using it on a motorcycle, and taking my eyes off the road for even a fraction of a second has led to off-road excursions for me in the past! I would like to turn off the screen while using the app.

You can turn off the screen by pressing the 'Sleep' button (the one on top of your iPhone). LapTimer will continue to record. Please note it is not possible to record video with the screen turned off. Finally, keep in mind LapTimer will continue consuming energy - even if it is less compared to the scenario with the screen turned on.
