Black Screen on Start-Up

HLT v21.0.7 GP Edition
iPhone 32MB 5S (4.5MB free)
IOS 10.3.2
With no other apps running, I tap on HLT app and the chequered flag page shows, then after a couple of seconds the screen goes blank (entirely black)
After 20 to 30 seconds the "I Agree" screen shows and I can start to record.
Is there some reason for the blank/black screen - it is always a relief when the next screen appears!
