Hi,
I got the same symptoms but could make it work.
Close the app from Emprum first.
The go into Harrys' nad in the more menu you will find a list item with GPS devices.
Select Ultimate GPS > and activate.

It might be that the app from emprum can not run at the same time as Harrys'

Best regards
Peter

Hi,

Plugging in and removing the Emprum will switch between the internal GPS and the Emprum accessory. What I see from your video, the Emprum is recognized when plugged in, the internal GPS is turned off, but no data is coming in from the Ultimate GPS.

You can recognize a working communication between the Emprum and LapTimer in several areas:
  1. In the GPS view, you should get a small spot in the 'Signal' gadget in the top left. It is either red (data received, but no position delivered) or blue (data received, including a GPS position). The former will change once you get out to the street and have good receiving conditions.
  2. The dongle will signal working communication too. As long as the small satellite is blinking red / blue (or constantly on), the connection is made and data is sent. From my experience, item 1 and 2 are always in sync.
Please note LapTimer always shows the effective update rate in GPS View. So a 0 Hz is fine as long as you have not GPS fix (e.g. inside a house).

In your video situation, when you plug it in, connection is recognized, but no data is coming in. I just checked this in the order you showed it - i.e. first started the Emprum app and switched to LapTimer then. It seems, in this situation, the Emprum app closes the connection when sent to background, while LapTimer has just opened it... So there might be a problem with running both at the same time. I will check with Emprum.

But, once you have sent the Emprum app to background, have LapTimer up and running, unplug the Emprum, wait a few seconds, and plug in the Emprum again, it should turn on the small satellite LED, and LapTimer should show the red or blue spot in the Signal gadget in GPS View. In case it does not, kill the apps, and repeat unplugging / plugging in again.

I'll send a video answer later :-)

Harry,

First off thanks for your responce and great app you have here. So I tried again tonight with the same results I was outside the whole time. Once again I have a video since it's easier to understand what's going on by seeing it. I made sure that the ultimate gps app was not running in the backround. Any ideas?

Selecting one of the sensors in the Sensor List simple changes display, there is no way to manually influence anything here.
So the reason it worked for you is hasn't been screwed up as in devildog's situation.

I had several tests during my not yet finished video production :-)
Here is a reliable way to get it working:

Currently, do not use the Emprum app and Harry's LapTimer at the same time. It seems to screw up things. I will work on this. As this doesn't happen when changing from LapTimer to Emprum's app, it is obviously related to LapTimer's connection routines...

In case it happened, run through the following steps:
  1. Send both Emprum and LapTimer to background
  2. Remove the Emprum dongle
  3. Kill both apps using the task bar
  4. Wait some seconds
  5. Plug in the Emprum
  6. Start LapTimer
Please let me know if this works for you.

So I tried it and it didn't work. Then when I started the Emprum App it said I had a firmware update. Did the update then tried the lap timer and it worked :) as you stated the Emprum app can't be running or it won't work. Thanks for your help with this.
