The best bet for update rates suddenly changing are actually other BT gadget around. But an Android update can add issues too - especially in case it is a jump from a 4.x version.

Re: Nexus 5x slow.obd rate
I'm noticing a slight 'step' pattern in my OBD data. since that introduction of the "OBD smoothing" expert setting - I have it a the default of 'adaptive'.
Should I set OBD smoothing to 'conservative' per the tip? And is this applied during data capture, or during overlay?

Re: Nexus 5x slow.obd rate
Conservative addresses splikes and Aggressive addresses step patterns. So in case Adaptive is not selecting the right one based on the update rates, you may try Aggressive. Extrapolation is applied during recording, so existing laps will not benefit from a change.
