Recorded in Master mode with no Pip input

Post by SupeR53 »

I used the LapTimer last weekend with the OBD dongle, all of the inputs were fine, I could see engine coolant temp, intake air temp, etc. but foolishly I set the record setting to 'Master' without a secondary input. Now when I try to overlay the video onto the lap data I get an error telling me to select the Pip video. If I tell it to ignore the Pip, it either says there is no Master, or crashes the app. How do i redefine the video selection after the fact, so that I can overlay just the 'Master' video? Is this possible or am I relegated (due to my own mistake) to just analyzing the runs as data graphs?
On another note, the one video that I was able to overlay has no OBD data on it, it should shouldn't it? like accelerator %, etc?
I run a 2005 Mini S-Supercharged FWIW.

To start with the last item: check if you have turned off the OBD gauge accidentally. For iOS it is on the seconds page in Overlay Configuration, while for Android you can find it by scrolling down from the lap selection / filmstrip diagram (in Overlay Configuration). In case it is set to None, select Standard or Extended (depends on LapTimer edition). In case the OBD gauge setting is not None, the lap overlaid has no OBD data recorded.

To get rid of the PiP: for iOS, press Edit in Lap Details, and swipe delete the PiP video. For Android, long press the PiP video and press the track can afterwards.

LapTimer should actually never crash. So in case it does, please send screenshots of the Lap Details dialog and let me know which exact actions make it crash. I will try to reproduce the issue and fix it.

Thanks Harry,
I'm running a Samsung SM G360V, Android OS. I just sent you a crash response, it should have everything attached.
I'm not finding the OBD setting on the lap selection diagram. I'm missing something, i guess (me, not HLT).

The OBD selector for overlaying is located in the Overlay Configuration dialog coming up when selecting: Lap List - a lap - Video section / Export.

It says OBD Gadget (None and down arrow greyed out)I looked at the csv file and it shows no OBD data whatsoever, I had OBD data on my display though, did I miss a setup for that as data to be taken?

This means either the OBD connection dropped and you didn't notice, or you had no GPS reception. While LapTimer displays OBD at the rate it is coming in live views, it is stored at GPS rate. In case you have no GPS, no OBD is stored.

I'm using the phone's GPS and an OBDLink MX. Does the lack of an external GPS with a higher data transfer rate make the difference?

That's usually fine. OBD data will be displayed at a high rate, but be stored at 1 Hz only. The later is due to the internal GPS. In case no OBD is available at all however, this is one of the named two issues, not a general issue. The combo from MX and internal GPS definitively works.

Can I take data on the road(vs on a track or course) to verify my data acquisition before my next event?

Yes. Enable "Manual Timing" in Settings. This will add Start and Stop buttons to Timer View.
