Does using Harrys LT use phone data?

When using Harrys lap timer, are you using data time from the phone service you use? I have a limited about of data on my plan (1 Gig?) as I rarely ever use my phone for internet etc that uses time off the data plan. I just downloaded HLT, and noticed when the app is activated the LTE icon has a swirling icon next to it. Does this mean that data time is being used? Is there any way to see the rate it is being used? if not, any guess how much per minute is being used to generate lap times? I'm gadget challenged..so please bear with me. Thanks.

Hi,

LapTimer uses data services if available. It works without too - provided you have loaded your track set front up.

Traffic depends on activities and your configuration:
  • Loading a track set (mostly user triggered action): 2-8 KB
  • Refreshing the Track List from the net (mostly user triggered action): 133 KB
  • Pulling K-Index (GPS disturbances): a few bytes once per hour
  • Reporting position online (submitted automatically while lapping): 20 bytes per second for internal GPS, 200 bytes per second for 10 Hz GPS
So except the reload / refresh of the complete track list, data usage is low. Higher GPS update rates generate higher traffic. Online reporting can be turned off altogether by setting Publish Data to None in LapTimer's Settings. A list refresh is done every few days. In case you do it while in a WiFi, LapTimer will not automatically reload it during the next days. Otherwise it is a manual request you can trigger at any time in Add-ons.

So, in administration/settings, I chose "Never" under publish..which will eliminate most data use,if I understand correctly?

If you want to be sure, turn Mobile Data off.
