Creating segments/sectors

I want to create a couple of segments on an autox track. I need to be able to see times for each segment over say 5-6 runs. How would I do that in HLT? I don't see anything in analysis to do this on the map.

Thanks

Set up your AX track as usual using the AX assistant. Once the track is defined (start and finish), walk to the split positions. Select e.g. GPS View. Make sure accuracy is good. Press the "+" button to add a new POI. Adjust the POI created to

a) be a Trigger
b) have Trigger Type "Split"
c) belong to the autocross POI set ("AX xy")

Repeat for up to 8 splits.

Once this is done, LapTimer will time the full lap and individual sectors. You can analyze sector time e.g. in the Laps chart: LapTimer ‣ Analysis ‣ press top tile. It will show you a bar chart with sector times and sector time changes. Use the configuration button to select what you want to see.

You can also add splits after the fact. It's not quite a simple if you're off site, but it's doable. I use map view to create the POI and then test view in the track set view to see where I need to move it. Then back to map view and drag the POI around. If you have the satellite view on , it's a bit easier. Then you recalculate, I forget which button exactly, and there you are.

An important note for autocross. You need to set directions for your POI's and you need to go into Expert Settings and set the wide detection corridor to the minimum, 5m, to avoid tripping from the wrong POI. Wide detection is automatically set when you use directions. Even then, you have to be careful not to put POI's with the same direction too close to each other.

Also in Expert Settings there is a switch to Allow Low Speeds. You need to turn that on if you're going to test your POI's during a course walk. Then you need to turn it back off.

Settings don't take effect until you put the program into the background and open it again, that also saves anything new you've done. Don't use the sleep button for this as you might lose your GPS connection. I also recommend saving every time you create a new track set or POI. It's annoying to lose all that work if the program crashes.
