Does HLT use the compass in your cell phone for any readings/data? My windshield isn't very large so I purchased one of these and have it mounted next to my rear view mirror on the passenger side: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Drive-On ... hone+mount

It came with two magnetic discs both of which I placed inside my phones case which gives it a large surface area to hold against the magnetic mount. So far I haven't had any issues with it but I was curious if this impacted HLT's accuracy in any way. I purchased a Dual XGPS 160 that I'm waiting to arrive so GPS will be pulled from that. As far as I know magnets don't impact GPS (if I was using the cell's) but they can cause accuracy issues with a compass. I'm using an iPhone 6 if that matters.

LapTimer offers real time displays of magnetic direction. Touch the compass in GPS View to toggle between true and magnetic direction. For any recording, lap timing, it is not used. So LapTimer's operation will not be influenced by magnets.

PS For those curious: LapTimer for Android will have compass support added starting with v20. It is used to set the driving direction for the AX and New Track assistants.

Out of curiosity, why Android first? Is it easier to access in Android?

LapTimer for iOS has this feature since v14. I had added this to support my Harry's Sailor app. I didn't add it to the Android version because it makes rarely sense. The only situation is when setting triggers and pointing to driving direction while standing still. GPS based direction calculation requires some speed to work.
