Overlaying to Go Pro Footage

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked before, but I've tried to find the answer and I can't.
I've recorded Go Pro footage (4Gig) of a session. I also had lap timer recording data but no video for the same session.
I want to pull the video of the fastest lap and add the Laptimer data to it.
Since the Go Pro footage is 4 gig, I put it into Final Cut Pro, cut it down to the fastest 1 lap, then exported the file.
This file was a 5 gig .MOV file, which I then converted (using handbrake programme) to a .MP4 file which is a more manageable 39MB.
I sent it to my phone via Dropbox and saved it to my phone camera roll.
-------
I go into Laptimer app, select the fastest lap from the lap list, click 'Edit' then 'Add Video' then select the lap from the list of 'camera roll' videos.
I then see the 'Video Sync Setting' scree, but it's just black and my video doesn't appear. I think this is where I would sync the end of the lap which would then allow me to overlap the data. Why am I not able to see the video and select the finish line frame??
Thanks in advance.
