GoPro Video Mode Resets Constantly

I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I've been searching for a while and couldn't find an answer... I have difficulty with the GoPro HERO4 video overlay in 1080 resolution but have found that it works reliably with 720. Additionally I need to use the spot meter mode and prefer Medium field of view to get the right in-car setup.
Anyhow, here's the problem... EVERY single time I set this stuff up, whenever HLT pairs up with the GoPro and starts recording all the settings are wiped out and set back to 1080, etc.
I've been looking around for a solution for a while since this is incredibly annoying. Any suggestion?

Yes, in LapTimer ‣ Administration ‣ Settings ‣ MultiCam ‣ MultiCam Standard switch to None instead of Master. This will keep LapTimer from switching the GoPro to what is thinks is "Master". When using None, LapTimer will still treat the external cam as the master video provider but will not switch settings. When running into problems with 1080 and not with 720, main memory shortage may be the issue. Which smartphone device are you using?

Ah, thanks! I bought a GoPro remote just so I could avoid neck strain turning around to reset it all the time!!
This is on an iPhone 6 6GB model.

I assume it is the 16GB version... Pretty short for FullHD videos. Keep in mind a minute will need 190MB. During overlay, double the space is required *on top*. So the first thing is to check available memory when running into FullHD overlay issues.

This did the job. Too bad I can't use the feature as intended though--it would actually be nice to let HLT always set the GoPro to the desired settings. I would suggest allowing users to choose those values you can work with somewhere in the advanced settings. For me that was 720, Medium field of view, and spot meter. Those were also erased when it went to 1080.
BTW, this is a 64GB phone. I only have about 8GB free though, so it doesn't leave a lot of working room I guess.
