Hi guys, sorry for the noob questions and no doubt they will have been asked before so feel free to point me in the right direction so far as existing threads are concerned. I have a track day on Sunday and want to make the most of it. I'm using an iphone6 with HLT Petrolhead. iPhone is set to 60fps. I'm interested in knowing what the best settings are to select in HLT under the spanner / tools sign when in video mode. Image stabilisation, auto focus and expose lock etc. I did a video this morning and the images was kind of wobbly. It's windscreen mounted on a Ram mount. Car is a 996 GT3 with light flywheel so it kind of vibrates at low revs and there is a bit of NVH etc.

Many thanks.

Nick.

For late iPhone (same for Android), wobbling / jitter has increased. The most important thing is you get vibration out so the jitter is minimized from the beginning. So take care you have a good and stable mount. The settings available do not have too much influence. Turn video stab off and lock autofocus once you have the device mounted. Not sure the later is necessary any more, LapTimer limits focus to far distance objects and should not refocus a lot even with a continuous setting.

Thanks Harry. A further question regarding the Full HD, HD, SD settings. I can adjust these through the App, but does it matter what settings the phone is on? My choices on the iPhone are 720p 30fps, 1080p 30 fps, 1080p 60fps. Aside from file size, I presume the 60fps is the best option for an in-car application. But what happens if I pick the 720p setting on the phone but pick Full HD on the App. Which prevails?

Thank you.

Each app has its own settings, so whatever you choose in an app like Camera app is not relevant for any other app (like LapTimer). You control the resolution of videos recorded with the internal cam using the LapTimer ‣ Settings ‣ Internal Cam ‣ Resolution and you control the resolution used for a MultiCam device using LapTimer ‣ Settings ‣ MultiCam Control ‣ MultiCam Preset. That's it.
