Creating new track with same S/F as another one

How do you make a new track if the S/F line is the same as a previous track?

I tried this today at Pitt Race and the program gave me all kinds of warnings and never worked correctly.

Pitt Race (former BeaveRun) opened a new south course two months ago. The new full course, north plus south, has the same S/F as the original north course.

I set up "Add new track" and it says I will lose all my data for the old (north) course when I set up the S/F line at the north course line.

Many courses have multiple configurations with the same S/F line. Shouldn't the software be able to handle this?

Very confused, and disappointed I lost many good lap times today.

There are several options to add a new configuration. To start with, you can use an existing configuration in case the S/F is identical. LapTimer will filter times achieved because the distance driven is different, but it works. Another option is to create a new track using the built in assistant. LapTimer will warn you in case you have a conflicting configuration loaded, please follow the instructions and let LapTimer purge the existing configuration (which means the POIs are deleted, but not existing laps). Finally you can send a mail to Tracks@gps-laptimer.de and include any information you have so we can add it from remote. You certainly need to do this ahead of the track day.
