Laptimer on Blackberry through SNAP/Google Play

I'll start by saying that I completely understand the decision to not port Laptimer to Blackberry due to market share, and I respect that.

But, now that many Android apps will work on Blackberry, I'm wondering if anyone has tried installing Laptimer on a Blackberry from the Google Play store through SNAP? I'd rather not pay for it, and then find out that it won't work (through no fault of the designer, I just haven't seen anyone say that this will work).

On my Blackberry Passport, I'm having about a 95% success rate installing Android apps from the Amazon Store, but only about a 50% success rate using SNAP to install Android apps from the Google Play store. It seems to be mostly related to how dependent the designer makes the app on the Google services. Since Laptimer was an iOS app first, I'm hoping that there are no Play dependencies.

Has any one tried this?

Harry, would you be willing to give me a 1 week trial, and if it works I'll of course pay for it?

Cheers,
Craig

On PlayStore you can cancel any app purchase within 20 minutes. That's enough to see it crash :-)

But I know it will not work. I checked the BB instructions to port Android apps. Due to LapTimer's multi platform IT architecture it will be a bigger effort to port, even to BB Android.

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I bought Rookie to try on an Asus tablet (whose GPS I now find doesn't seem to work - I guess I'll get a 160 to pair it with). It only scores 1050 on geekbench multicore, so we'll see how it does if I don't use any video.

Many tablets do not come with a GPS at all. They use some mobile net triangulation to derive a rough position, but that's nothing one can use for data recording.

Hey, Petrolhead edition is working nicely on my Z30.
It cries for Google Play Services here and there I did not find a limitation yet. OBD LX is working like a charm as well.

This is curios. From the BB docs I understood there are several steps to make an app utilising native code working... All feedback I received so far said BB is not working. Can you please post the complete system information of your BB here? OS version in particular. Thanks!

Hi, nope. the Android runtime on BB runs Android code natively. What you refer to is probably the steps to get Android apps run before 10.2. afaik
I use it successfully on a Z30 with 10.3.2.2226 and a Passport with 10.3.2.2226. I bought HLT on the playstore and downloaded it directly to my BB. It is even able to handle payments. Can send you the data of a lap if you want to ;)
