I have used laptimer for the first time today and can't find the overlay button to create a overlaid video? I go into the lap list and select the lap but there is no overlay button as per the help instructions?
Is there anyone who can help me?

Please check if a video has been recorded first. Lap List will show a small cam icon for every lap that has been recorded including a video. As long as you do not enter Video Video (from Timer View) and stay there (or for iOS, press "Record Auto"), LapTimer will record data and time only.

Thanks Harry
The video has been recorded as has the lap data. The play button appears below the video but the overlay button which should be on the left of play button doesn't appear. The track icon next to the lap time in the lap list has a star on it. Does this mean anything?

This sounds like you have overridden the video status to "Overlaid" in Video List / Video Details (and ignored the warning

). As LapTimer considers this video overlaid now, it doesn't show the Overlay button... Go back to Video List and try to change it back to Raw / Original. Afterwards, try overlay (in Lap Details!) again.
