New user questions

Hello all, new user to Harry's Lap Timer
I had two major questions before investing in equipment for use with the HLT Application
Background info:
Android Samsung Galaxy S5 with Harry's Lap Timer PetrolHead Edition
Currently using an old non wifi enabled Gopro 360 to record video on my dash.
I recently had a track day at Lime Rock park and realized I had no cell signal/data connection to download the track.
When I open Harry's Lap timer, I usually click, Load Track and search and find my track.
Then I click the start driving and go for a heat.
When I am done and back in the pits, I typically press the back button until I close the app.
My question is, does the application remember the last track I loaded?
Because I may not be able to reload/download the track again, I was wondering if I have to load the track each time I load up the application.
I ask this because when I click Load track again after I had already loaded it previously, then shut down the application, the track selected spins and ready for driving spins and I am unsure what is loaded in.
second question: I know the gopro wifi models have good compatibility with the wifi and video overlay, but they are expensive! I would rather spend the money on a track day than buy another camera (albeit a nice one with good features)
would a generic action camera with wifi work with this app in the same way the gopro hero3 wifi and later generations would?
I did look at how to overlay the track data onto existing video, but I am ashamed to say, I could not figure it out easily.
I also apologize if these questions have been beat to death
