I race on a number of oval tracks anywhere from a 1/4 mile and up.

Will your lap timer work in this environment, and is there anything else required other than the app and a smartphone?

How accurate would the timing be?

Yes, LapTimer is fine for oval racing of any size.

Besides smartphone and app, a stable mount and a power supply is recommended. In addition to this, you may enhance the system by external GPS and OBD adapters. Please check http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Compatibility.html for the details and recommendations.

Timing accuracy is mainly depending on GPS accuracy (not update rate). It will be around 0.05 seconds for most modern equipment. Again, we have details available here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=459
