I've tried a ton of different apps, but haven't found one that works for my needs. Hopefully Lap Timer (or another of your apps) will work.

Here's what I need...I haven't found an app that does it all...several apps do most, but none do all.

I drag race boats so we're idling in gear prior to the start of the race. So I need a GPS based timer that will:

1. Automatically start at a low speed (I typically would use 8 mph).
2. Either stop at a predetermined distance from the point/time at which the GPS starts (i.e. 1/8 or 1/4 mile, or custom distance - i.e. 800' or 1000'...some places we run 800', 1000' or 700'. Need to be able to see ET to these distances).
3. Will work with my bluetooth 10Hz GPS (QStarz 818XT)

Any suggestions? I have tried Dynomaster because theirs said it does it all, but it doesn't provide custom ETs to a certain distance. They only report 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, and 1000M so it doesn't help me. Thanks.

LapTimer uses triggers - i.e. GPS positions - to start and stop "lap" timing. There is no mode for going an arbitrary direction a certain distance, but you can set the finishing line be setting a trigger in this position. For the start I'm not sure how well LapTimer triggering will work. For so called "standing starts", you charge the system in a certain position. Once you accelerate hard (acceleration, change in position), the system fires and starts recording. In case you have a lot of waves, you may get false alarms - needs to be tested.

Can one record max linear G values and RPM vs time and then export them without having a loop (lap).
I dont want to have to return in a loop to the start line.

Is there any way to start the logging without being concerned about not getting the change
in acceleration to do the start trigger? I often want to test my car without doing a lap.

Can I get G logging to start with starting video, then stop it later and export? Like a partial lap.

If that will not work, what about setting up a new track start point and a POI at the finish?
or better yet, with POI as long as I can stop recording and export?

Can you tell me the buttons to poke get this accomplished?

I did read the Points of Interest and Triggers doc and your facebook page about setting Go and Stop triggers
but where do you created these? You track setup panel only allows a Start/Stop trigger point to be set. ??
I also see in your flow chart Event Settings (Timer wrench icon) The panel shows 3 events but not
description of what the icons mean or how to set them. I must have missed where this is documented.

There are several sources available:

#1 Using the Prepare Race ‣ New Track or Prepare Race ‣ Autocross, you do not need to work with individual triggers. New Track will create a track with a joint stop/go trigger and Autocross will create a track with distinct go and stop triggers.
#2 http://www.gps-laptimer.de/documentation has a couple of documents describing triggers and how to define detailed tracks (TRIGGER LOGIC and TRACKS).
