Troubles this weekend

Hi All, (And Harry)

Had some issues with the App this weekend. Firstly I'll start with my gear

iPhone4 (32gb)
iPhone4 (16gb)
iPhone5 (32gb)
UltiMate GPS attachement for iPhone4
GoPoint BT1 (iphone only version)

So... This is the way I had it setup previously..

iPhone5 is a hotspot/network host (as its the only one with data connection)
iPhone4 32gb is the main camera/datalogger with UltiMate and BT1 connected
iPhone4 16gb is a multicam

The Problems..
The Iphone4 32gb wouldn't talk to the GPS in the app at all. It connected and would charge if I plugged in the cable but the app wouldn't pick it up.
second, the iPhone4 32gb would not talk to the GoPoint BT1, again, connected but wouldn't talk to it.

I ended up having to use the iPhone5 as the main camera/logger and using the iPhone4 32gb as the multicam.

Here lay more issues.
Cant connect UltiMate GPS to the 5 but that's an iPhone 4 to 5 adapter solution.
the BT1 did connect fine and worked.(?)
It took a while but the mulitcam finally started to work.
Videos recorded fine. But no laps where logged... none. I cant find them on the app. I have an hour or so worth of video and ZERO laps to overlay it.
What happened?

The problem with the BT connection is most probably due to both the iPhone5 and iPhone4 (32GB) being paired with it. It is a fifty / fifty chance (or less) you get the connection you want. The connection is done automatically (by iOS), LapTimer is not involved and can't control it. I had lots of problems of this kind in the past as I frequently test with many devices and accessories. It is extremely difficult to manage from my point of view - you do not "see" wireless connections... I turned to be extremely restrictive and turn off any wifi and any BT of any smartphone I do not have in scope currently. And run into problems nevertheless...

On the Ultimate? No idea. I'd suggest to make sure you are on the latest OS version first. iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1 had lots of problems with accessory connections - but that seems to be fixed in 7.1.2 In case an accessory doesn't deliver data (0 Hz) but seems to be connected, try sending LapTimer to background, wait some seconds, and pull it forward again. This will close the connection and open it again. You may contact Emprum in addition - maybe they are aware of an issue with recent iOS versions.

On the missing recordings - maybe some problem with GPS? Did you have the iPhone5 in a mount attached to your windscreen. In case LapTimer had some reception and started but lost it later, the video continues to record while data is not.

Hope that helps to narrow down the problem(s).

Thanks Harry

I had all the phones mounted on the windscreen with RamX mounts.
I'll take a closer look at the GPS. Could be faulty. All phones are up to date with iOS software.

Guess i just missed out on some overlays. Would have been nice to compare times to my previous runs on that track
