GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
Hello,
I just started setting up :
iphone 5c
VBOX sport
GL1 cable (does charge the iphone)
i tred on open road, just recording a short video : pressing record, then stop.
During the video recording i could see the rpm move, the speed move, the gear change, throttle etc. (real time)
when i try to overlay, I get the G force ok, but speed = 0 rpm =0
when i checked "GPS speed" i was able to re-overlay, then i had only speed.

Looks like you didn't get data / the line dropped. When an OBD gadget is shown in the bottom right but it is not moving, this typically means the line dropped at some time (before the recording started).
Please make sure OBD is stable first, goto Speedo View (portrait) and drive around. Make sure you get rpms consistently and without drops.

Re: GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
Hello,
i just want to repeat : I HAD the rpm showing while recording that video. (i was seeing it move while recording)
But, yes sometime it drops, or is refreshing jerky. but while in real time the rpm is always present and updating.
What can i do to stabilise that GL1 data ?
is there any way to work with a hondata flash pro instead ?

Re: GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
I tried again, the GL1 do not work properly.
with Laptimer (like 3 fps and do disconnect when engine auto-stops)
It seem to work better with DashCommand. (like 10 fps no disconnect)
but it looks like there is a delay of half a second.
it looks like there is more a GL1 => iPhone 5c problem. (i remember it working perfectly with my iphone 4.)

I'd suggest to check with GoPoint. You may follow the description here to check if there is a compatibility issue between LapTimer's current OBD parser and your car: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1500alollini wrote:I tried again, the GL1 do not work properly.

On update rates: never compare update rates between apps. It depends heavily on the number of parameters requested. If e.g. you request rpm only (because it is the only value displayed currently), you will get e.g. 20 Hz while it will drop to 5 Hz if e.g. rpm, tps, maf, vss is requested. As LapTimer is for data recording and not to show a limited set in the fron end, LapTimer request a bigger set all the time.

ok, I will try Harry's GPS/OBD Buddy and send you a trace log.
I notice that my GL1 is out of date (hardware 1.0.0 and firmware 1.0.4)
I tried with apps from GoPoint to update firmware with no luck, the screen freeze when i want to flash it.

Re: GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
I tried all GoPoint instructions, twice : i tried also with an iPad 2.
unplug / plug gives sometimes "accessory not compatible" on the iPad.

Re: GL1 cable data does not want to overlay.
Hi, I came across this issue for a BT1 too. It is most probably an issue with the old firmware version. I had disabled querying the battery voltage due to a firmware issue two years ago. As it works with the recent firmware versions, I have enabled this feature two or three versions back in time (probably 18.0, but need to check). So it is well possible the combination from old GoPoint firmware and new LapTimer version is the issue...
Workaround #1: contact GoPoint on how to get the update working
Workaround #2: exclude 0720 from PID requests. You will find the field to enter in LapTimer, Settings, Expert Settings, OBD Tweaks

they tell me my GL1 is damaged, they can try to repair, but i'd better go for a new BT1A.Workaround #1: contact GoPoint on how to get the update working

ok, not great but it worked; i managed to have a video with some overlay of rpm, throttle, gears... but somewhat delayed and jumpy.
maybe you can help me get it better :
is it possible to have ONLY rpm from the GL1 and have the speed display only from the VBOX ?
how can I setup that ? (speed from VBOX is perfect, speed from dash or GL1 is 7% off due to tires not stock sized)
also it would be interesting to display coolant temp, but needs only a slow refresh 5s or so.
i found this :
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1338
what is the syntax to remove several PIDs ?
maybe removing most PIDs will speed up refresh of rpm/throttle/gears ?
