Metadata & Video Resolutions
Metadata & Video Resolutions
My Dual 160 failed so I am doing an alternative approach.
I have a iPhone 5S (16G) iPod touch 5th Gen (64G) and a GoPro BE 3+ (64G)
1. I need my iPhone5 as master as it has the GPS sensor as I believe the IPOD does not. Could the master (iPhone) be set as VGA, the IPOD as fullHD, and the goPro as 720P. I am NOT using iCloud file transfer but sending the movie to camera role upload to Dropbox (20g) and then download.
2. Where is the metadata stored as I would really like to use the IPOD (extra space) to build a movie with IPOD full screen (master) and iPhone and goPro as Picture in picture. My concern is the metadata is on the iPhone, right???
What do I do?
Other note: I surmised the IPOD does not have a great sensor as on one run it never automatically started, the next run I started manually and the GPS fixes were all other the map and not usable,

Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
The iPod has no GPS chip but gets some rough position from wifi triangulation et al. So you can't use it as master without attaching an external GPS.
When using the above configuration, you can either overlay on the iPhone (you need to free up any memory not used by LapTimer to have enough available storage), or on the iPod touch. For the later, turn any iCloud and automatic transfer off for MultiCam. Once you have recorded your laps (on the iPhone), run the following steps:

- Install LapTimer on your iPod
- On your iPhone, export the laps to .hlptrl/z and send them to an email account you can read on your iPod. Open the attachment in LapTimer to get the data including video links to your iPod
- To make the iPod video available in LapTimer on the iPod, transfer the video from MultiCam to the Photo library (Move button in Video Details in Recording List)
- To make the iPhone video available on the iPod, transfer it to the Documents folder of LapTimer on the iPod using iBrowse
- To make the GoPro video available on the iPod, transfer it in one of the known ways (Photo sync, iBrowse)

Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
Great news. So I will make IPhone master at VGA quality and IPOD at HD quality and then move all the files to the IPOD to merge the IPOD as forefront video and the IPhone as the picture in picture.
Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
I am in iBrowse on the iPhone, where exactly are the video files located?
Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
iBrowse = Desktop Software - just to make sure. Select LapTimer from Apps and navigate to the Documents folder. Please do not touch anything but video files.

Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
Found the 4 files on the iPhone located in the documents directory along with the other 1093 files in the directory. It was good to note all the files began with LapTimerCapture....mov. Also, I will assume that I just copy them over to the IPOD to the same directory, right?
Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
I had an iPhone main video and a go pro multi cam. I transferred all the lap data by export-share with a friend to an IPOD that has lots of GB free. I moved the video to HLT documents using iFUNbox for MAC. Before I moved the files, I used VLC to change the 'media information genre" to
multicam://cloud/LML-E427C2CF-GP for the GOPRO video in an MP4 format (converted using handbreak). Is there any other field to change? Plus I am having a terrible time getting the data to PERSIST. What is the secret to get it to save each time?
For the main video that was on an iPhone, the media information genre did not persist after the file was moved from IPHONE to IPOD. What is the format for that?
So far I move files into the HLT documents directory and they are never showing up. Help?

Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
Hi,
VLC does not always save the metadata (genre) entry. You will not get feedback it did not save it, but sometimes it doesn't. My recommendation is to go the second path described in the Video Documentation. Instead of using metadata to make links, use the re-link function which replaces one video association by another video without breaking the sync information (offset in file).
The future path is to use the metadata only when set automatically and "behind the scenes". On user level, the re-link approach is a lot more intuitive and easier to handle.

Re: Metadata & Video Resolutions
Well that was simple, Harry - - Thanks
1. Please confirm when I take videos that were masters, picture-in picture, then I can relink in any order I want.
2. Since I will mix and match, can all videos be 1080P as some of your posts indicate picture in picture should be 720P.
3. For HLT multicam settings, based on not knowing which will become main versus Picture in Picture, should I select NONE or Max resolution available?
