Andriod - Master file missing unable to overlay

Harry, I am having some trouble here and need some help.
I ran three sessions today on the lap timer on my Samsung Galaxy S3.
When I went to review the files in HLT, I could see them and play them through the preview.
On the drive home, I wanted to start the overlay (I am running BT OBD2 and Dual XPS GPS).
But when I tried to do so, every single lap I clicked on said "No video" icon, included in the lower left hand box is "SD CARD". which would be correct, I have a 16GB SD card in the phone. Even when I tried to overlay regardless, it said "Master missing" - options are to Cancel or Overlay - which do nothing.
I looked under the video list in the lap timer and it doesn't have anything posted there, other then the text stating that this is a "sandbox". Nothing is found.
When I look on my phone, in my videos folder I can see the videos referenced, with the proper names as HLT states they should be!!!
I have no idea on how to "Show" HLT where the videos are. Please help!

LapTimer uses the Movies directory of any external SD Card inserted into the device. In case no external SD card exists, it falls back to an "emulated" SD Card (i.e. internal memory). LapTimer decides on the "SD Card" to use only once when accessing it the first time. Any changes to the SD Card configuration at a later point in time are not reflected until LapTimer is started again. So please try again with and without the SD card inserted and do not forget to kill / restart LapTimer in between...
It seems I need to handle multiple storage areas in a future version...

Harry - thanks, but thats not quite it. I had started HLT with the sd memory card in. It was clean so i could record my runs. Additionally, i can see the videos on my phone, they are on the memory card. I verified this by hooking the phone up to a computer.
I took the memory card out and restarted the phone. HLT made no change in the behavior. Each time i looked at the lap it had the icon for no video. This was the same with the memory card in. I went into my "movies" section of the phone and i no longer saw the videos that i had recorded. That tells me they are definetly on the memory card.
I turned the phone off and inserted the memory card. I went straight to the "movies directory and they are now back on the phone and i can watch them.
When i launch HLT i see the same issue. I still have the no video icon.
What i think happened is one of a few things;
1. HLT moved the files from a staging directory over to the movies directory for some reason. This broke the known link to the video from within the application. Therefore when i launch HLT it does not recognize where they are, hence the "no video" icon
2. HLT lost access to the directory somehow. The details on the file name as reported from within the lap list appear to be the same as to what is on the memory card (as verified by the pc view). Maybe some permissions issue has come into play.
What else can i try?

I think I need to add the multi card handling soon... As written above, LapTimer selects the movie directory when accessing it the first time. While it selected the external card during your recordings, it selects the internal card now. It will recheck the selection strategy but doubt the current use of one directory only can be the solution for the future. LapTimer does not move movie files or use absolute links. Instead the link includes a qualifier on the type of link (file based, internet based, multi cam based [iOS]) and the filename. So in case the link says "file based" and "a.mp4", it searches for a file named "a.mp4" on the internal card currently while it should look into the external one...
Until I have changed the approach, please copy the file from the external card to the internal one. There are several free file manager apps available on the store that can do that. Please do not move the files as this may change the result of the selection strategy again
Btw. You can check LapTimer current card selection by generating a contact mail using the Contact button on the startup screen. It includes the path discussed.

Harry thanks again. Ok, i got the videos back on the main internal memory of the phone. HLT is finding them again and populating the video in the icon space under lap list. I am going to try themone at a time, i have a total of three sessns, but i will try to overlay only one.
Our saga does continue.....
I choose the first lap out of the sequence and the videoo populates under lap list.
- i choose the overlay button..
...... Message reads "number of laps available for multi lap overlays reduced due to inconsistent synch oints. Please adjust the laps synch point and agree to adjust the full session... Ok"
- i choose OK to the above message.
- on the overlay configuration popup, it reads at the top "invalid master video, referemce pip viceo not valid - excluded, 6 minutes required"
..... I can see it is asking my to adjust the timing using the + - options, i make no changes to the timing. I do turn on GPS speed. I click Overlay.
- "warning - for this laptimer edition for andriod hardware accelerated video not supported,,,,,, ". I choose Continue.
- next up is confirmation "lap has picture in picture videos assigned not available currently. Please check video list for alternatives or download". Ok, i have no ide why it thinks there is a pip video, i dont know where to turn that on/off. I choose Ignore at this stage so i can continue. Te screen flashes, i think there is an error message that pops up, but i cant tell it is too quick.
.... Now nothing happens, it returns me to the lap list page and i am looking at the overlay and play buttons under the image of the video. It put me back where i started.
The video does not overlay, it just sits on this screen.
I have tried this on every single lap that i have recorded, with the same result.
Please help with this next hurdle....

As long as you see "Invalid Master Video", the video linked in the lap cannot be opened for overlaying and the operation will fail. This is probably the same for the Reference Video (best lap driven) and this is the reason you get the error message on the PiP problems. The later can be ignored (or you set "Reference Video" to OFF in the Overlay Configuration dialog). I understand you see the video in the Lap Details before you press "Overlay"? This is strange because this means the video is found here but not during overlaying...
Anyway, I will release an update soon that always searches all SD cards (external and emulated), maybe the problem will go away then.

I have uploaded v18.0.17, it should be available in an hour. Please check if you see any difference now. Video List will show all external / emulated / general and app sandboxed directories available and searched for videos. The first section is always the section new recordings and overlay go into.

Ok.... I downloaded it. Sadly no change in behavior. It does exactly the same thing as before. Same messages, same work flow.
I dont see where i can get rid of the pip option. Please advise where or point me to the documentation.
I do see the changes you made to the video sandbox, it shows all of the videos now, both in the emulated directory as well as the sd card.
When i scroll on my video list window, as i near the bottom the newly displayed videos are bunching up with the older ones i scrolled past. It creates a shadow effect. I am assuming you are passing a buffer parameter somewhere in the display. Double check with your test unit, see if/ when you scroll down if it combines then and it looks like a shadow overlay. I can provide a screenshot if needed.
Let me know if there are any logs or anything i can provide for you to troubleshoot further. You have been very helpful and it is much appreciated on this end.
Cheers!

In the Video Overlay dialog, scroll down beyond the multi lap selection / Intro-Extro +- buttons. The first option shown is "Reference Video", turn this one off.
