Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
I've been looking for a durable window mount for my iPhone 4 to capture stable video along with my Lap Timer data. Anyone have a recommendation? I've been looking at possibly the Ram system. The aluminum and composite twist suction system and the clip-in cradle specifically designed for the iPhone 4.
Re: Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
No recommendation from my side as I did not test mounts extensively. This one here was reported to be very stable / vibration free: http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0484008560

Re: Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
i cant suggest a window mount as such, but i have a bunch of ram mount camera arms and mounts that i use for GoPro cameras on my motorbike, very well thought out and designed system.
Re: Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
this is the cradle you want. link
you can attach any short arm and base. there should a recommended base that pops up in a related window, that's the one i got, it works great. it's short and flexible enough to work right up by the rear view mirror, which gives you a good angle for the video cam.

Harry, I can't see the ebay link.
What do you think of Navigons iPhone 4 holder? http://www.navigon.com/portal/uk/shop/z ... d=16624431
Is there any iPhone holder like this? http://www.dealextreme.com/p/universal- ... mera-37975
It looks like the GoPro HD mount. But I need a way of ataching my iPhone to it...

Re: Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
That's the problem with eBay links, they expire.
I cannot give a recommendation on the other mounts. Besides stability, it is important to make sure that the mount is not getting into the video's view.

I am using a Panavise with standard 1/4" 20 tripod mount and a SnapMount iPhone 4 tripod mount. It is stable and has lots of articulation/mounting options to allow getting the right position and angles.

a big +1 on the RAM mount. I've been using one for a couple of years and my video quality is excellent with no shaking. Here is a sample http://youtu.be/SSbz4smIBBU
Re: Recommended window mount for iPhone 4
I have used quite a lot of windows mounts but they usually do not last as the rubber suction usually gives out especially when you hit bumpy roads. Probably the solution to this is use a stronger glue to make it stick. That is if you want to keep it permanent or if you would be fine with just scraping it out once you grow tired of it. I just bough a non stick mat and let it stand where the tachometer is.
