Switch to Android?

I have used LapTimer for over 1,500 laps since August 2011 and again would like to thank Harry for his exceptional product.

I currently have the Grand Prix edition that I run on a 3rd generation iPod Touch using a Dual XGPS 5 Hz. (I also have the Grand Prix edition for iPad.) I do not plan to switch to an iPhone (although my wife has an iPhone 5).

In your opinion, would it be better to upgrade to a 5th generation iPod Touch, convert to the Android App (I currently have a Galaxy S4), or stay with what I have?

Will Android laps be able to be exported to iPad?

Also, once video support for Android is available, will it sync with the video function on my Galaxy S4?

Any other information that you think is relevant would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

LapTimer Android support is not yet on the level of iOS. For those that want to switch to Android, the best timing will be to do this around mid of next year. Petrolhead will get available in March, GP is planned sometimes later in 2014. All LapTimer versions are fully interoperable. You can export data from one platform and import it in another (using the .hlptrl format). It is even possible to copy the binary databases.

SteveK,

Have you thought about buying a used iPhone 4s rather than a new iPod Touch? The 4s is more expensive than the 4 but is faster. The right used phone does not need to be activated again and can be used just like an iPod Touch but has more features. I think the best bet is to get one that doesn't use a SIM card. It will give you the occasional error message when you turn it on, but that can be ignored. The iPhone also has a built in 3 axis magnetometer. That currently isn't being used in HLT, as far as I know, but it might be in the future.
