Samsung TTY???

Hey guys.

I just came back from Thunderhill this past Sunday. I attempted to use the Android version of Harry's Lap Timer Rookie on my Samsung Galaxy S4 and had difficulty using it.

Before I went out to the track, I'd hit 'Reference Lap' to set the reference. About half-way through the track, there would be a pop up that wanted me to download some 'Samsung TTY' app. It didn't direct me to the Google Play Store, but to a different site all together. I can't bring it up again, nor can I find any reference to it. Since I barely had signal at the track, I ignored it. This happened both times I used it. I didn't want to use the program anymore, as it was too much of a bother.

This didn't appear to crash the program, though. If I cancelled out of it, the app was still running and keeping track of the time.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix for this? This wasn't fun to try and hit buttons on my phone while driving.

Thanks!

Hi Alex,

That is probably not related to LapTimer altogether. I have no idea what this Samsung TTY is, maybe it is some extension Samsung adds to their phones. LapTimer uses no manufacturer specific features, it is completely based on the Google standard implementation of Android.

The only idea I have is that this TTY is related to text 2 speech. Maybe Samsung needs a special download for that feature (for my Nexus 4 the library is built in)... You may simply disable text 2 speech completely be deselecting the Sound / Speech option in LapTimer's Settings. Text 2 speech is used when a lap is finished. It gives you the time driven.

Harry,

Gotcha. It appears that the app had the 'Speech' option on. That may have been it.

For now, I have deselected the 'Speech' option, but I won't be at a track anytime soon to test it out. For now, I'm sure that was it.

Thanks for the quick assistance. When I go to the track next time, I'll keep an eye out for it.
