I understand that an internet connection is required to get the map data, but is any caching going that might enable the continued use of the map view when a connection is not available? I suspect not, but I just wanted to make sure.

I saw some caching in the old Google Maps gadget, but are not sure how the Apple one behaves. LapTimer itself does not add any caching.
