portrait mode saves video rotated 90 degrees

Hi Harry, using Petrolhead on iPhone 4s. Due to my phone mount setup I need to use my phone in the portrait mode. Whilst recording, all pop-up text is rotated 90 degrees clockwise. Then the video is saved 90 degrees clockwise, with the overlay straight (90 degrees to the video). To watch it play back on the phone I can turn my phone on its side then lay it down flat, but when I watch it on my computer its not that easy to turn the screen... Have I done something wrong? Is there some way I can correct the videos that I've spent the whole weekend collecting? If not, can I make the overlay match the video? Thanks, David.

Portrait mode videos are very unusual and are not supported by LapTimer's overlay. There are actually two issues:

a) Orientation is not stored correctly: transfer the raw video to the Photo app and watch it, it is not oriented correctly. You can trick the iPhone's video orientation by putting the iPhone flat on the table, but that is because a flat iPhone has no portrait / landscape orientation defined.
b) LapTimer's overlay formats are SD, HD, FullHD - all landscape. Everything else will have gadgets placed wrong.

You may try rotating the video to portrait (actually LapTimer stores it as a wrong oriented landscape video - see a) above) on your PC and transfer the video back. Maybe LapTimer will add the GPS / Acceleration gauge in the bottom left, and the inserts in the vertically centered to the left, countdown / OBD will not be visible however.

Sorry I cannot help more, I think you really need to find a better mount...
