iPhone4 (no sim) as a Master with iPhone5 as Camera?

Post by Sprinterboy »

G'day all

First time user of Laptimer and firstly, I want to thank Harry for an awesome product!

My planned setup for my first AX day next weekend goes as follows

iPhone4 (no sim) as the Master and camera
Emprum UltiMate GPS connected to the iPhone4
GoPoint BT1
iPhone5 as the second camera

So my newbie question is,
Without a home WiFi setup, how will the 4 connect to the 5?
Do i set the 5 as a hotspot? I did attempt this setup but couldn't get the picture in picture to work

I plan to just use the Iphone4 as a dedicated track toy device with no other apps or music (32gb)

Many thanks

Justin

They connect using Bluetooth. You'll need Harry's Multicam app on the iPhone 5. See here.

Hi Justin,

Welcome to LapTimer :-)

Please check this three items:
  1. You need to use LapTimer Grand Prix (or updated Petrolhead/Rookie) on your iPhone4
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on for both iPhones
  3. Make sure you have MultiCam operation turned on in LapTimer's Settings
I have added a step by step to LapTimer's video documentation: http://www.gps-laptimer.com/LapTimerDoc ... hapter.pdf please search for section "Preparing iOS MultiCam Devices for Recording"

Hope that helps. In addition - a recommendation: please start with LapTimer standard operation in the beginning. Your setup is quite sophisticated and chances are good you run into problems when starting from scratch to this advanced scenario.

- Harry

Thanks!
I've made sure I have the mulitcam app and laptimer grandprix on both devices.
I'll let you know how I go with setting it all up from a "newbies point of view"
Cheers.
