Hello!

I seem to have lost a whole set of GPS trails from a set of laps -- they used to be there but have somehow disappeared since I recorded them about a year ago.

Having seen a previous thread about missing GPS trails, I used iExplorer to look in the Documents folder and found two recoveryDB folders full of .pdb files, both from about 3 weeks ago which was right when I was recoding an autocross.

Is there any chance I can recover the trail data for those year-old laps?

Yes, when LapTimer runs into database problems, or is not sure existing data has been written correctly, it stores away a copy of the current database to a recovery directory. These recovery can be used to restore data. LapTimer's databases are made up from separate tables for laps, vehicles, POIs, and data recordings. The last one is split into a bunch of individual files. These sets of .pdb files sitting in a recovery dir can be copied over to the root Documents folder and will be uses afterwards. .pdb.save databases in the Documents folder need to be deleted and the app must not be in memory (so needs to be killed!) while database files are copied around.

Please note this is a sensible process and likely creates problems. In case you have problems with missing data and find a recovery directory looking promising (e.g. bigger number of .pdb files, or a data you are sure you had all data), you may send the full recovery set to me. I will check if it can be used / repaired.

Thanks! I'll try that out and see if the data pops back up. I do recall the app crashing once or twice that day, so that must have been it.
