v17.0.2 - Laps aren't recording

Post by TemeCal »

Harry-
I've had great success with your incredible app, up until this latest version. I was at a track day in Southern California (Streets of Willow), with a buddy of mine and brother. HLT has always worked perfectly at this track. We set up HLT, as we've always done in the past. After the 1st session, I noticed nothing ever recorded. HLT, in the previous edition, had always started automatically when crossing the start/finish time. For some reason, it didn't this time.

I confirmed I had good GPS signal (I'm using an XGPS150A...while my other friends/brother are using the iPhone's internal GPS). I confirmed that the track was loaded properly - sure enough, all 15 POIs existed. My brother and I had ours on do not disturb, so we thought that maybe this was the issue.

Second session, I manually started the video. It recorded my entire session (~25min), but NO individual laps were recorded again. After the 2nd session, I talked with 3 others running HLT. None of theirs were logging the laps either. Everyone out there said the same thing...it all worked on tracks a few weeks ago...but it's no longer working with the latest update.

Do you have any thoughts on what we might be doing wrong? Have you had any other feedback indicating the lap logging isn't properly working in the latest update?

I have been so impressed with your app, that I typically sell one to two guys on buying it at the track. Unfortunately, yesterday was a dud since we couldn't get it working. Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated. Thanks for the great app - keep up the hard work!!!

Thanks!

Hi,

The Streets of Willow is defined as a counter clockwise track. Is this the direction you are driving? Due to the changed trigger detection taking trigger directions into account, laps driven the wrong direction will not be recorded. In case Streets of Willow is driven in both directions, the track set needs to be updated.

Thanks for the quick response Harry. We actually ran it clockwise, so that may be the issue. However, our last track day was CW, and it still worked.

How can I go about updating the POIs so it detects it in the CW configuration?

Thanks!

Quick fix is to set all trigger's direction field to 0. This will turn off direction checking. Seem I need to add some new configurations tomorrow...

Added a new clockwise configuration to LapTimer's Tracks: SoWillow CW

Please enter LapTimer ‣ Tracks, update the list using the small top left button, and download the clockwise configuration. Having two configuration is the better way as it allows keeping separate laps separate. Furthermore, time gap calculation (predictive lap timing) will work for the reference lap driven the same direction only. Please keep in mind you need to load the two track set alternating, so confirm "purge" when you download one of both configurations.

Hi Harry-
I have another track day coming up, at a different track. The track organizer hasn't specified which direction we'll be running, nor does the trackset in your app indicate the direction.

How can I confirm the trackset "Chuckwalla (1180)" will work? If I find it doesn't work, can I just set my trigger direction field to 0 under advanced settings (guessing)?

Thanks!

As far as a I know triggers with no direction (0) work in any driving direction. You could also prepare the other direction as a separate track set. Download the original track set, rename it, edit the trigger directions and then certify it, changing the email to one you have on your iPhone. That way you can either load the original one from the server or your configuration from within the email attachment.

Forgot to mention:
The normal layout for Chuckwalla is clockwise and the track set on the server is clockwise too.
