This on an iPad 3.

Had HLT Trainer installed on iPad and updated to V17 Grand Prix. On opening the app, "migrating lap #xx Recording" is displayed, incrementing from 0 to 40. Upon reaching 40, the application shuts down.

This is repeatable.

Any ideas for what's next?

Yes, as with every major update a database migration needs to be done, existing data base inconsistencies become visible. Although I have spend considerable time in effort in making the recovery mechanism reliable, that's not always the case. Please follow the instructions given in the link below and I will try to recover your data. The only alternative is deleting the app completely and installing it from scratch (with loss of existing data).
