I know the PLX Kiwi WIFI issues have been beaten to death, but I can't find the reason for what I am experiencing.

I have used the PLX with HLT for most of the year with good results. All iPhone 4S settings have been set per the PLX website and all the postings on the web.

Last track day I had the following occur:
PLX shows as a WIFI network and shows as joined when checked on my iPhone (check mark on WIFI settings)
HLT sees the sensor sporatically. I never had a session with consitent OBD data.
Here's the wierd part: The WIFI network symbol will not display on the iPhone home screen. It stays in 4G. When I turn the cellular network data off, still no WIFI symbol.

I've turned the phone on and off. Checked the pins on the PLX. Connected after and before the car was running. ETC. The PLX shows power and begins flashing when the iPhone 4S sees it.

Questions:
Is there a firmware update for the PLX that might be causing this? How would I update it?
Is it possible that it's time to "Restore" my iPhone 4S as it seems to be a phone problem?
Any ideas?

No solution but some thoughts... Firstly, I understand this is a China copy, and no 'real' PLX device, correct? Please keep in mind that these devices typically run copies of the ELM327 chip and probably do not follow the quality standards of a brand device. Despite the 'usual' network problems that were discussed already, have you updated to the recent iOS version 6.0.2? Apple seems to have fixed a wifi issue here. It is not documented which one, but probably worth another try. Next, please make sure you have no other BT and wifi gadgets around while driving, these may disturb the connection (I had this some time ago and wondered why it didn't work any more - it was the second iPhone). I'm not sure the wifi symbol is always visible while active - the status bar shows strange behavior from time to time.

Hello Jim,

My China PLX copy is doing a similar thing on my jailbroken 3GS running IOS 5. I have a proper wifi connection, but the top line of the iPhone display shows either the Edge or the 3G symbol. However, since the wifi connection is working anyway, I consider this only a cosmetic bug.

I'm actually considering a restoration of the iPhone. However, I have another friend having the same issue.

Ok, this is exactly the problem I'm having now too, iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3, and a genuine PLX Kiwi 2.

It seems to be communicating, but then it's not working with my M3 anyway (Another topic for another thread!)

PLX recently posted the router setting need to be *removed* with the latest iOS version.
