Re: Problems with video overlays

I assume you do not have the video twice in the Photo app? The original and an overlaied one (without overlay)?
Please check if you have enough memory available. Overlaying requires twice the space of the original video free.

You got it! Not enough free memory! I repeated the overlay command after clearing some space and it worked!

Thanks Harry!

Re: Problems with video overlays

Hi Harry,

New user here. What a great product by the way. I am experiencing the issue related to the app not being able to find the recorded video. When I open up the lap history and click on the video I get the message that says: "Cannot find the video selected, it was probably moved to another place. Please link the video again using the edit function". I then press OK and click "Edit" on the same screen. Then when I click the video again, the app opens up a new window that has nothing in it except the message "No videos available in the Assets library, please check the photo app."

What am I doing wrong? How am I supposed to reestablish this linkage?

The odd thing is that I had this issue as soon as my test laps were done. I tried using the overlay function in spite of this error and the app kept crashing. Then after a couple of tries the overlay function worked, and I ended up with the overlaid video in my camera roll. Now when I open up the lap history I see a picture of the video with the overlay, but when I press it, I still get the error message about not being able to find the video.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I am runng this on a 4S with the latest iOS 5 release.

Hi,

LapTimer 14.3 accesses videos in the Photo library only. So as a first step, check if your original (or overlaid) videos are available in the Photo app. If not, the videos were most probably moved to your PC / Mac during synchronization. Check iTunes documentation on how to sync videos back to the Camera Roll / any Photo app folder again. In case the videos are available in the Photo app, please kill the LapTimer process (either by using the iPhones task bar, or restarting the iPhone), and try to link again. The update of the videos provided for selection in LapTimer is not correctly updated after synchronization currently.

Harry,

When this first occurred, the images were in my photo app. I had not done any other synchronization with my Mac. I rebooted to see if that had any impact, but there was no change. Here are some additional details. The first time I clicked on the video from lap details, the video replay crashed part way through. So the linkage appeared to work to start. The overlay also worked, so the app could find the image. But after that first crash, I could no longer link to the video from the app, even though the content was still on the phone in the camera roll.

I have since deleted the originals from my camera roll to save space, but the overlaid videos are still there. The lap details screen now shows the video with the overlay, but when I click on it I still get the same error. I am going to try this again, and see whether that first crash was the culprit. Just to make sure my description is correct, I have included the images below.

First image is below and is the error message I mention.

I then clicked OK and then clicked edit on the screen below.

That took me to the following screen which is where I am stuck. Apparently, this is where I am supposed to re-establish the link? I can't see anything there that would let me accomplish this.

Hi,

The message appears when the link LapTimer holds (it is an URL effectively) cannot be resolved by iOS. As the thumbnail is generated from the URL too, there is something wrong with your configuration. Both thumbnail generation and video replay are simple calls to iOS, I assume that there is any kind of inconsistency with your phone. As you run a jailbroken phone there is probably any background process disturbing, but that is speculation. As this problem is unknown (at least after having rebooted the device completely), my only recommendation is to get back to a standard iOS version. Very sorry, but no other idea.

Hi Harry - I don't run a jailbroken phone. I run standard iOS version 5.01. Thanks in any event for trying to help and for being so responsive. I agree that something is odd here, because the thumbnail is still there, and the app was able to find the video to generate the overlay.

I will try running a few more test laps and see if all of this is temporary.

Here is an update. I ran another test today, and everything worked fine on the new lap. The video thumbnail pointed correctly to the non-overlayed video, and after the overlay operation, it now points correctly to the overlaid video.

The unexpected result, is that my prior laps with the problem described in previous posts is now resolved also. Those lap summaries now link correctly to their videos. Also, when I press "Edit", I now see all my videos on the device. Seems like the new lap forced some kind of re-synch to the video library or something.

So now everything is fine.

Hello Harry,

First off, thanks for a great product.

Unfortunately, I'm having trouble overlaying a video with data I recorded using the Dual XPS150 and Kiwi PLX on my iPhone 4Gs. After I record a video, I hit overlay and wait for the video to process. Once its done, although the map is on the bottom left and rpm diagram shows up on the bottom right, it seems like no data has been passed to them. No green dot shows up on the map and the RPM's are stuck at ~900. After looking at the csv data, the data is there and it changes every second. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

Just in case this is helpful, I was in autocross mode with a standing start. When I look at the csv file the first two rows have a lap time of (0 and 42949672.12 respectively) as well as the RPMs at 908 (the incorrect value that is shown during the entire video). Could this be the problem? Thanks for the help
