1. In tapping into the Lap in HLT from the Lap List screen, scroll down to Track Info which contains Length and Altitude. The Length shows 4.212 miles. In the charts and such, it shows 90.11 miles and so I don't think there is any error anywhere. Is this odd number because the track is open-ended (Start and Finish are not the same spot), so HLT is trying to resolve distance as though it were a closed loop? and is coming up with 4.212 miles? (The altitude goes from 4017 ft to 5708 ft, which is correct.) Or is something else causing this and is there any reason for concern?
The 90.11 is from the SSCC track. My guess is that you may not have updated the info in the Track sheet. Unlike the Lap sheet that is very automated, the Track sheet requires a lot of user copy and pasting.
Did you follow the Track Sheet instructions in the Help sheet? Give it a try. This is the hardest part.

No, the Map if for the track, not the lap.
You can map your lap. See in the Help sheet Plotting GPS Coordinates.

fwiw, opened the new xls in Excel 2007. Column L on the English sheet rounds down to the minute. This rounded-down elapsed time then flows through to the relativeToStart on the Lap sheet.
Re: How to create a track and reference lap for a road rally
Change the Excel formula from
=TIME(0,W4,0)
to
=W4/(60*24)
You'll also have to change column K.
These will be part of 3.02, but I'll wait a day or so to post the update as other changes are likely to arise.
Note, the OpenOffice version is fine. This is just an Excel issue.

Using the .ods in OpenOffice Calc to be on the safe side.
The new filter tool -- using the named range TrackFilter to define the filter criteria (Filter tab A2:S10) -- is behaving strangely. It includes rows that have Acceleration = 0, and omits rows that have Acceleration > 0.
I am using the filter by first selecting A2 through S217 on the English tab. Then I simply apply the filter through Data - Filter - Advanced Filter - select TrackFilter and hit OK.

The settings I left in the Filter sheet were for a different track.
Change Filters.A5 to 215.

Thanks, Deven, that correctly includes the Finish Line.devenh wrote:The settings I left in the Filter sheet were for a different track.

A different strange behavior is also occurring with the filter.
English sheet and Filter sheet. The filter is defined to include Acceleration non-zero rows from column S. However, it seems that based on the word "Acceleration" in the headers, the comparison is instead being done on column Q, and so the wrong rows are being selected. This seems to be a core code error in OpenOffice Calc. If the header for column Q on the English and Filter tabs is temporarily changed to something like Acceleration1, then the filter will work correctly.
For example, the first six rows Location value (col A) should be: 1, 6, 11, 12, 14, 15.
Rather than: 1, 7, 12, 13, 15, 16
Re: How to create a track and reference lap for a road rally
Yes, you are correct (again)! The label needs to be changed. It was just last week that I started using the Advanced Filter feature, so I hadn't noticed the problem. Change the label in column Q to "Accelerate" in several of the sheets.

v. 3.1 released
3.10 9/13/2014 Misc. fixes
Expanded the Help section
Changed the formulas in English columns L and K to be more compatible with Excel
Cosmetic changes to Metric sheet
Changed the label in Column Q to Accelerate from Acceleration in several sheets so that the Filter would work correctly
Improved positioning tags for the start and finish coordinates in the Lap sheet
UTCOffset added to Constants sheet
Time zone in GPS fixes changed to UTC in the Lap sheet
http://www.biglens.com/files/HLT3.1.ods (Open Office version)
http://www.biglens.com/files/HLT3.1.xls (Excel version)
If these link are broken, it means a new version has been released. Just keep reading this thread.
A new constant has been added, UTCOffset, which is used to set the UTC time for the GPS coordinates. The default is PDT or 7. Update this value based on the time zone of the course.
A reminder that when you upload a track and lap (upload the track first) to HLT, be sure to set the lap as the reference lap. You should confirm this by opening the Timer view and seeing a time in the Reference section (upper left corner).
I'd also suggest deleting all other tracks and laps leaving only the track and lap generated by the spreadsheet in you Lap List.

Re: How to create a track and reference lap for a road rally
when creating the XML for a test, where the elapsed time is greater than 60 minutes, I noticed that the import will fail if elapsed time for 83.5 minutes appears in the XML as 01:23:30.00 (I changed the default time formatting to achieve this).
Because of the default time formatting in the spreadsheet, all appearances of elapsed time greater than 60 minutes will appear like this for the 83.5 minutes example:
23:30.00
... it seems that the Reference Lap will not work correctly in the relativeToStart and lapTime values, if 83.5 minutes is represented as 23 and a half minutes.
Does it need to appear in relativeToStart and lapTime as 83:30.00? Or perhaps HLT cannot handle elapsed times greater than 60 minutes?
