That's the order I've been doing it.

Roqy in the background after a fully established connection (satellite sync etc) then launching HLT which shows the updated GPS refresh rate.

It'll take whatever speed you're at during that initial moment and then never again, this was tested over a number of 18min drives.

He recently responded to tell me he's a bit busy at the moment.

I'm now wishing I'd just spent the extra on a supported GPS receiver.

What expert settings are you using in HLT?

In Roqy I've tried NMEA compatible and the other more generic GPS receiver option without success.

The Expert Setting that may help is GPS Tweaks / Speed. It allows to ignore the internal sensor's speed (and BT GPSes connected through roqyBT are considered to be internal sensors) completely and calculates the speed based on the GPS positions and the time needed to get from one to the next one. Not recommended in general, but probably the best choice for you.

I was actually questioning whether or not a custom host and port have been added?

I don't use BT GPS but I assumed (probably wrongly) that that would need to be configured the same as a none supported BT obd reader for it to pass data?

The IP things are not relevant for roqyBT's GPS operation. GPS data is added to iOS's location service directly. OBD data needs to be transferred through a local IP port to allow LapTimer to treat it like any wifi OBD dongle. So that's completely different.

My confusion came from these settings.

These are to connect arbitrary wifi GPS sources. Mainly used for testing. It is similar to custom IP / ports for OBD.

Harry, if i use that setting will the speed reading be less accurate?

Well, that is difficult to answer with yes or no. While the speed delivered by GPS is derived using the so called Doppler effect, LapTimer's alternative speed calculation derives speed from the distance and time between two consecutive GPS fixes. I guess while the former is usually filtered and misses min and max values (a common observation), the later will be pretty noisy and is directly impacted from position inaccuracies.

I've had no response from Roqy other than to tell me he's working on making the App iOS7 compatible for the upcoming jailbreak, whihc is great for him but not much use to his existing users who have paid for a product that doesn't work.

He continues to ignore my request for a refund, after which I'll just get a supported GPS rather than something using an MKT chipset.
