For the high frame rates: please try, I haven't check if iOS allows to process these. Please take care you select one of the resolutions SD: 640 x 480 (4:3), HD: 1280 x 720 (16:9), FullHD: 1920 x 1080 (16:9). All other will get some odd positioning of gadgets for the iOS version.

For those of you using Android - I tried to drop the raw Gopro video into the Movies folder so I could overlay lap info over it, but it seems it did not recognize the file. I went through Gopro studio to create a joined file of the session, and exported it to .mov 1080p/30fps, under 2gb. Tried again to add video to a lap, but while the file is displayed, it is not recognizing the length or letting me click the video.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Please describe what exactly you do in which view. I need to understand in which area to look. Maybe add some snapshots too. Once I know where exactly the process does not continue, we can enable logging to see what is happing. In terms of debugging, it may be a good idea to copy a video recorded using your smartphone in parallel to the GoPro video. This will allow to see if it is a format problem or something else.

Harry,

Here is what happens when I navigate to the lap, and click the icon for add video:

When I click on the video, I get this screenshot. I can't navigate to the end of the lap and set the marker:

Thanks!

O.k., this means Android's video libraries cannot handle the video format. It seems a thumbnail can be retrieved, but Android fails to read the length of the video. I'd suggest to use the tool used in viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2278 to convert the GoPro video to something compatible with Android. I write "Android library" here, as this part is is handled using standard Android functionality, not the video library LapTimer brings to overlay. That's a big difference.

Please start conversion starting from the GoPro original video. Each conversion costs quality, so it is best to go the way from the best quality instead of converting a video converted / cut already.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Harry, I will try another format and report back. Gopro studio does not give many options to export the video - I think only h.264 .mov is available for 1080p/30.

H.264 is fine, but please use a .mp4 container.

Harry wrote:Currently, the iPhone needs to record video in addition to make the whole video recording part (including GoPro) working. However, you can switch the internal cam's resolution to SD - which does not require a lot of memory. Furthermore you can remove the video after each session if necessary. The process is somewhat different:

1) Turn on the HERO's wifi module
2) Connect your iPhone to this wifi
3) Start LapTimer, enable all MultiCam stuff, switch to Video View
4) Drive

Hi, i would like to ask you few question for who like me didn't understand yet everything.

-after connected iphone\gopro3 together ,in the circuit video will auto start\stop every lap on finish\start line?
this because i don't have never lot free space memory and if i have single video every single lap ,after i can overlay only what i want and not all videos.(i don't have possibility when i drive to stop and start video manually )
-like as u told us for who have not lot free space,is possible switch the internal cam's resolution to SD, but is possible record by HD resolution with gopro3?

thank you

Hi,

Video recording is always on session (multiple laps) scope. Early versions recorded one video per lap, but this created huge timeouts when stopping video and starting the next. So individual video are technically not feasible. The best work around is indeed to use your GoPro and set the internal video's resolution to SD. Should be around 27 MB per minute at this resolution. Delete this video from Video List once you are back in the pits to free up this space for the next session.

Please keep in mind you will need to transfer the GoPro video to the iPhone to overlay it. So latest at this time, you will need some space - even if it is temporary.

harry, this week i will try in a track session your imputs:

1) Turn on the HERO's wifi module
2) Connect your iPhone to this wifi
3) Start LapTimer, enable all MultiCam stuff, switch to Video View
4) in video ,manually start video recording

in this way i have some questions:

is not possible connect an other obd wifi signal for data recording, when gopro wifi is connected?

with video recording started manually, lap timer will save and divide all the laps done in the same video?

after i want use the video done by gopro like the only video and master. I read gopro and iphone must recorde in the same resolution. To make free space during session you told me i can deleted the iphone video. So still have sense use same resolution?
