Re: HLT exports with DashWare, TrackVision and RaceRender

I ran into the same problem with the exported CSV files as well -- there was an odd line with a "TIME" value that included hours, when all the rest just had minutes:seconds. When loaded into RaceRender2, this throws it off completely, and it thinks all my laps are 0:00.07 seconds line, except for one which is the length of the entire session.

I just deleted that row, and everything worked fine.

I have also had no problem editing the exported files in Excel, to parse up the data. I ran 4 session at Lime Rock Park on Tuesday, and then exported the entire day as a plain CSV file. I make 4 copies of this file, one per session of course, and then figure out which lap numbers correspond to each session, and just remove the rows that are not needed in each file.

The only other thing I do to the data is rename LAPINDEX to LAPINDEX_ORIG, create a new column called LAPINDEX, and then define it's values to be LAPINDEX_ORIG minus whatever offset will renumber things starting with 1.

RaceRender has no problem handling the different newline representations, even though I edit and save the files in MacOS, and use them in Windows (sure wish RR has a MacOS version....).

FWIW, I'm using RaceRender because it does picture-in-picture really well, and I've got 3 GoPros now (front, rear and driver cams -- ends up looking really cool). I also just bought the GoPro 3D kit, and it appears that RR has some support for 3D. Not that I know anyone else with a 3D TV who will watch them, but I can't resist making some 3D track videos (which you will see posted here in a few weeks :-)

I'm curious what software others are using to add the PIP effects, is you're using DashWare to do the data overlay. I had problems getting DW to read my data files, but I should revisit the product, now that I am comfortable hacking on Harry's output files (never used Excel before this!!).
