The Family Locator is not a problem. I thought about a GPS Helper app feeding in junk... In case you have nothing like this installed, it is a severe compatibility issue in the Moto X implementation I cannot add a workaround for until the next major release. I'd like to have some more feedback from other Moto X users in addition to be sure it is not a singular problem. The probably easiest work around fro you is adding an 5 or 10 Hz external GPS device. Maybe a good Christmas present and adding accuracy and data quality value on top of the work around.

Thanks Harry. I figured the 5Hz is the most logical solution to this. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my specific Moto X that had issue. Hopefully you can gather some data points from others and see if the internal GPS is not working right.
My Moto X is a Verizon Developer's Edition spec model if that matters.
Looks like I'll put that external GPS on my wish list for christmas.

Hi again,
I just got this behavior reproduced on a Nexus 4 after updating it to Android 4.4.4. Just like in the sample above, invalid NMEA sentences are added into the stream overriding valid data. I will try to add a workaround asap and submit a bug fix. In situations like this it is an advantage for Android that new version updates take so long to get a reasonable coverage. A problem like this on iOS would have generated hundreds of problem reports the first weekend

Hi Harry,
I forgot to mention that. I am running on 4.4.4 Android. Android 5.0 is coming soon so it's a possibility it might break it again as well. iOS would definitely have a stronger follow since it was your first OS and definitely more popular
Thanks for your help Harry! I'll be waiting for the update.

Thanks Harry! Your customer support is superb! I just updated the app. I'll try the app again sometime this week to verify your work around.

Please just check if you get a constant update rate of 1 Hz and regular blue bubbles in GPS View / Signal when you are outside. A test drive is not necessary.
